TOPIC: Installation Issue: Missing libraries

Installation Issue: Missing libraries 1 year, 9 months ago #939

Just installed Physion in Lunbutu 14.04 64 bit. Running Run.sh gives this message:

carolvs@ANLU02:~/programs/Physion$ ./Run.sh
./Physion: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.54: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

These libraries do no exist on my system. Where can I get them?. Are there other requisites?.
Are there other ways to install Physion?

Regards.

Carlos

QT (which is part of Physion) needs some extra libs.
There are plenty answers when trying google.

try
dpkg -i libicu52_52.1-3ubuntu0.4_amd64.deb
or
sudo apt-get install libicu52
Infinity is vast, especially near end.

libcu52 is already installed, in its most recent version. There is no libcu54 package available. I even installed full Qt for versions 5.4 and 5.5 and right now am trying to point the program to the executables it brings.
Of course I googled it down but it was useless, apparently version 5.4 was in use for too short a period before 5.5. I'ĺl let you know if full Qt installation helps, but the full product is not the best solution.

Maybe try Wine and install the Windows-Version, because Physion needs/uses only CPU-Power.

Edit: I just tried it myself, installed Lubuntu 14.04 64Bit in VirtualBox, then did
sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wine/wine-builds
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install --install-recommends winehq-devel

as decribed here
Downloaded the Physion-Windows.exe and rightclicked it and did "Wine Windows Program loader", it needs some more packages which the Wine-Loader can download himself.
Finally i ended up with a Physion-Icon on the desktop and it's working just fine.

Approximately the same problem here on Mageia.
Mageia 5 contain the package version libcu53, version is 54 not available.
The development version "Cauldron" for Mageia 6 to released in summer do have version 56

..workign on it... Iĺl be back...

Hi Morgano,

Did you actually manage to solve this problem? If so, how?
